China Eastern and pillows ceramic figures?
I have been researching a couple of ceramic / porcelain figures pillows that I inherited. They are the image of children or babies in a squatting position with his arms crossed, they have beautiful bright colors on them and are very detailed, with openings in the ears and mouth. At first I thought it was a kind of toy piano but have since learned that they are pillows. I know I've seen this type of pottery somewhere but can not place where. Any help or information would be appreciated.
Ceramic (Porcelain) pillows were very popular in China for over a thousand years in the 20th century until they were the pillows cushions as everyone else. Were also common funerary gifts given to the afterlife. Age depends on whether you bought were new or old. The use of people squatting, children or animals were popular subjects. Beautifully executed examples often seen in museums with large oriental porcelain collections. http://www.chinaculture.org/gb/en_artqa/2003-09/24/content_37919.htm
